Preparations for the First International Conference on Climate and Energy in Amedi

Under the slogan

“Advancing Integrated Pathways Towards a Sustainable Future and Greenhouse Gas Mitigation,”

The first preparatory meeting was held today, Tuesday, at the Technical Institute of Amedi, one of the constituent institutions of Duhok Polytechnic University, in preparation for the organization of the First International Conference on Climate Change Mitigation, Energy, and Sustainability (ICCMES 2026).

The meeting was chaired by Asst. Prof. Dr. Yaman Sami Sharif, Vice President of Scientific Affairs and Postgraduate studies, with the participation of his supporting team. At the outset, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Fattah, Dean of Technical Institute of Amedi

expressed his appreciation to the University Presidency for the attention and support given to this important initiative.

The conference is scheduled to be held on 6–7 October 2026 at the Conference Hall Technical Institute of Amedi

in a hybrid format (onsite and online).

Conference Objectives

The conference aims to bring together researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, and specialists to:

- Develop integrated solutions for energy systems, environmental sustainability, and urban resilience.

- Promote scientific research and innovation while bridging scientific knowledge with practical applications to achieve a sustainable future and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
