Within the framework of strengthening scientific and academic relations among universities in the Kurdistan Region, faculty members of the Department of Mechanical and Solar Energy at the Technical Institute of Duhok, affiliated with Duhok Polytechnic University, delivered a specialized scientific workshop entitled

“Fundamentals of 3D Printing: Basic Concepts”

at the College of Engineering, University of Zakho.

The workshop aimed to exchange technical expertise between Duhok Polytechnic University and academic institutions, as well as to familiarize students with the latest global technologies utilized in the labor market and industrial sectors. With the participation of a number of faculty members and students, four scientific and practical lectures were presented by specialists in the mechanical field from Duhok Polytechnic University to faculty members and students of the College of Engineering at the University of Zakho, as follows:

Importance of 3D Printing Technology: Lecturer Samyan Omid, Head of the Department, delivered two lectures highlighting the role of 3D printing in engineering and industrial fields, in addition to explaining printing processes using techniques such as (FDM, SLM, SLS).

Design and Modeling: Lecturer Hatim Ibrahim, presented a lecture on the methodology of executing designs using the internationally recognized software (SolidWorks), which serves as a fundamental basis for 3D printing applications.

Practical Aspect: Lecturer Shmal Rashid, delivered the concluding lecture, which focused on introducing ( slicing software ) and demonstrated, in a practical manner, the operation of 3D printing machines to the attendees.
