Duhok Polytechnic University Participates in the RISE Project Training Week


To enhance the integration of efficiency mechanisms and international practices, and to strengthen practical skills within higher education institutions in the Kurdistan Region, a RISE Project Training Week was conducted. The event aimed to reinforce the work of the Career Development Center (CDC) and the Office of International Relations, at the University of Murcia, Spain, with the support of the European Union and UNIMED, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

In this context, the team from Duhok Polytechnic University, consisting of Dr. Nawzat Sadiq, Vice President for Student Affairs; Dr. Faiz Saeed, Director of the Career Development Center; Dr. Kurdman Muhammad Ali, Dean of Shekhan Technical Institute; Dr. Sherwan Mustafa, Director of International Relations; and Dr. Chinar Abdul Qadir, Head of the Department of Physiotherapy, along with representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education and universities of the Kurdistan Region, participated in an official visit to Spain. They were warmly received by José Logan, President of the University of Murcia; Juan María Vázquez, Advisor for Environmental Affairs; Alicia Rubio, Vice President for Student Affairs; and Silvia Marquioni, UNIMED representative, in coordination with the RISE Project administration.

The training week hosted 36 participants from the Kurdistan Region – Iraq, including vice presidents for student affairs and employment, directors and staff of international relations offices, and directors of career development centers.

The training program focused on two main axes to enhance practical skills:

Career Development Center Services: Discussion sessions aimed at guiding students and graduates, facilitating their transition to the labor market, and connecting them to employment opportunities.

Freelance Work: Sessions aimed at promoting a culture of entrepreneurship, encouraging students to adopt freelance work as a professional option, and developing relevant skills.
