Discussing the Prevention of Violence and the Risks of Technology at the Technical Institute of Shingal
Within the framework of protecting the family and building an aware society, the Technical Institute of Shingal, in coordination with the Directorate of Combating Violence Against Women and the Family in Duhok Governorate, and in cooperation with the (Lotus Flower organization), organized an extensive seminar for students in the institute’s main hall.
In the first session of the seminar, First Lieutenant Haifa Mahmoud Hamid, an investigating officer at the Nizarke Office, presented an overview of the duties and responsibilities of the Directorate of Combating Violence. She highlighted the legal procedures and the mechanisms for managing the investigation process in cases related to violence against women and the family, with the aim of ensuring the rights of victims.
The second session was dedicated to the legal dimension and was delivered by Lieutenant Colonel Falah Hassan Jiyan, Head of the Media and Relations Department. This session addressed, in general terms, Law No. (6) of 2008 concerning the prohibition and misuse of communication devices in the Kurdistan Region. Emphasis was placed on the legal penalties imposed on individuals who use mobile devices or social media platforms for unlawful or violent purposes, as well as on the importance of using technology responsibly and within appropriate legal frameworks.
This activity forms part of a series of seminars organized by the institute to enhance students’ legal awareness and protect them from various forms of social or electronic threats and violence, thereby contributing to a safer future for families and society.
