About the Department

The Surveying Department is the oldest academic department at Duhok Technical Institute, which itself is the first higher education center established in Duhok city in 1988. Since its inception, the institute has played a vital role in the development of Duhok, contributing significantly to the city's progress and quality of life.
As part of Duhok Polytechnic University, the institute operates under the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kurdistan Regional Government.

Every year, the department graduates a cohort of students who are awarded a Technical Diploma in Surveying. To date, approximately 3,000 students have graduated from the department, gaining the technical and scientific expertise required to contribute effectively in both public and private sector institutions across Kurdistan.

To provide distinguished, applied academic programs in surveying that incorporate modern techniques and technologies. The department aims to serve the community by producing skilled mid-level professionals capable of working according to international standards in the surveying field.

Mission

The mission of the Surveying Department is to prepare qualified technical staff in the field of surveying who are capable of meeting the needs of both the public and private sectors. The department emphasizes both theoretical knowledge and practical training, ensuring students are well-equipped to keep pace with evolving technologies and the demands of modern development. The department is committed to fostering the necessary competencies for students to advance in their careers and adapt to ongoing technological changes.

Program Objectives – Diploma in Surveying

Graduates of the Diploma in Surveying program will be able to:

A. Apply effective communication skills, a commitment to lifelong learning, and foundational knowledge in mathematics and basic sciences to excel in the surveying profession.
B. Demonstrate creativity, leadership, teamwork, cultural sensitivity, and an understanding of global and environmental issues, in alignment with sustainable development principles.

D. Pursue professional licensure and continuous professional development in the surveying field.
