Under the slogan"By Supporting Women, We Build a Better Future for All"

and under the title "Enhancing the Role of Women for Better Social Balance"

a panel discussion was held on Monday, December 8, 2025, organized by the Shekhan Technical Institute, at the Education Hall in Shekhan.

The event was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ari Adel, President of Duhok Polytechnic University, and under the patronage of Dr. Kurdman Mohammed Ali, Dean of the Shekhan Technical Institute. The panel was organized in conjunction with the 16 Days of Activism Against Violence Against Women, and was attended by Mr. Sardar Sheikh Yahya, District Commissioner of Shekhan, along with a number of representatives, directors, and officials from governmental and political institutions, social figures, as well as faculty members and students of the Shekhan Technical Institute.

As part of efforts to strengthen the role of women in society, highlight their capacities, and promote their empowerment, a panel discussion comprising four main topic was organized, with the participation of Mr. Khalid Jamal Shankali, Dr. Majid Idris, Mr. Ali Abdul Qader, and Ms. Vian Akram.

The session was moderated by Biwar Dakhaz Saleh, a student at Duhok Polytechnic University.

Topic one: legal advisor Khalid Jamal Shankali discussed women’s rights from a legal perspective and their role in promoting social justice.

Topic two: Dr. Majid Idris, a lecturer at the University of Duhok, addressed the role of women as active partners in society and its development.

Topic three: This topic focused on psychological aspects and their importance in correcting and strengthening women’s role in society, presented by Mr. Ali Abdul Qader, Head of the Department of Psychology at Nawroz University.

Topic four: Ms. Vian Akram, a lecturer at the Technical Institute of Sinjar and Head of the Women’s Affairs Center in Semel District, highlighted the role of the Kurdistan Women’s Union in empowering women and protecting their rights within society.

At the end of the panel discussion, Prof. Dr. Ari Adel, President of Duhok Polytechnic University, expressed her appreciation and gratitude to the organizers of the event and presented pluques of appreciation to the panel moderators and participants.
