Duhok Polytechnic University recognizes the critical importance of faculty and staff availability within the Entrepreneurship Center to ensure its success and effectiveness. While our primary commitment is providing quality education to our students, we understand that the Entrepreneurship Center is a valuable resource for fostering innovation and entrepreneurial skills. To support the Center, we are dedicated to exploring ways to allocate dedicated faculty and staff members to its activities. We are assessing the feasibility of temporarily releasing selected faculty and staff from some of their other duties to enhance their availability within the Entrepreneurship Center. This approach aligns with our commitment to both education and entrepreneurship and reflects our determination to create a thriving environment for aspiring entrepreneurs. Asst. Prof. Dr. Firas Mahmood Mustafa
Firas Mahmood Mustafa is an academic specializing in Computer Engineering, celebrated for his remarkable expertise and active engagement in various roles. Presently, he holds the esteemed position of Director of the Scientific Research unit at Duhok Polytechnic University's Technical College of Engineering. Dr. Mustafa has made many contributions to the realm of academia and the scientific community, as evidenced by his active role as a reviewer for several international conferences. Beyond his academic contributions, Dr. Mustafa demonstrates a profound dedication to continuous learning and professional development. He has completed training programs and workshops related to education and engineering, with a noteworthy focus on eLearning. His active participation in the OPATEL project, a collaborative effort with the European Union, underscores his commitment to advancing educational methods.
As a passionate educator, Dr. Mustafa's impact goes beyond the confines of the classroom. He actively participates as a committee member in organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences, contributing significantly to higher education and research. His affiliation with prestigious organizations, including the IEEE, Iraqi Engineers Association, Kurdistan Engineers Union, and Iraqi Association for Computer Science, reflects his recognition within the academic and professional community. Dr. Mustafa also serves as a valuable consultant to the Iraqi business community, offering his extensive insights and expertise. Dr. Firas Mahmood Mustafa is more than an academic; he is a dedicated advocate for sustainability and global solutions. His impressive participation in the Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge by IREX led to him achieving the top rank in Cohorts VII and VI in 2022. Dr. Mustafa's enduring commitment to sustainability, evident through his involvement in multiple program cohorts, underscores his fervor for addressing global challenges and fostering positive change.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Ammar Isam Edress
Ammar Isam Edress is an esteemed Assistant Professor with a profound background in Applied Mathematics. He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom, where he specialized in this field. Currently serving as the Vice Dean of the Technical College of Zakho, which operates under the purview of Duhok Polytechnic University, Dr. Edress has been an integral part of the university's fabric since 2006. Throughout his tenure at Duhok Polytechnic University, Dr. Ammar Edress has undertaken diverse roles that span the realms of administration, education, and scholarly research. His dedicated contributions have left a lasting impact on the institution. Dr. Edress's professional journey includes a wealth of accomplishments and significant positions, such as managing the 2023 JOUSOUR Program with WFP, serving as the Organizational Admin for the DPU-Coursera for Campus Program in 2020, and his role as Program Manager of the Pre-sessional Course for Syrian Refugees program funded by HOPES-MADAD from 2017 to 2018.
His commitment to professional development is commendable, having completed numerous training courses across various disciplines. He has also been officially recognized as a Training Instructor (ToT) in E-learning by IREX, in Entrepreneurship by the International Labour Organization (ILO), and in Reference Management by Mendeley®. Dr. Ammar Isam Edress, as an Assistant Professor, possesses a rich skill set encompassing people and project management, academic expertise, and proficiency in IT tools. His extensive experience and dedication to research and education make him an invaluable asset in the academic sphere.
Karwan Al-Dosakee is a dedicated academic with a rich background in Computer Information Systems and IT management. He earned his Master's Degree in Management of IT from the University of Nottingham, UK, in 2013 and completed his PhD in Computer Information Systems in 2023. Dr. Al-Dosakee's academic journey began in 2013, and since then, he has actively contributed to academia and professional development. His expertise extends to various domains, including Project Management, HR development, and higher education. He was a participant in the UNILEAD program funded by DAAD, which emphasized Project Management and HR development. Dr. Al-Dosakee played a pivotal role in several Institutional Development Projects funded by Erasmus+ and was actively involved in the Technology and Entrepreneurship program.
With a keen interest in learning and development, Dr. Al-Dosakee attended various conferences, workshops, and training sessions in different parts of the world, honing his skills and knowledge. His commitment to improving education and his efforts in bridging the gap between academia and the professional world are commendable. In addition to his academic pursuits, Dr. Al-Dosakee has been a proactive volunteer and member of several organizations and syndicates related to education, engineering, and computer science. His wide-ranging involvement and enthusiasm for academic research underscore his dedication to contributing to the field of education and technology.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Amira B. Sallow
Dr. Amira B. Sallow, originally from Duhok, Iraq, boasts an illustrious academic background, having earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science in 2013, an MSc in Computer Science in 2009, and a BSc in Computer Science in 2004, all from Mosul University in Iraq. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor at Duhok Polytechnic University in Iraq, Dr. Amira's research interests encompass operating system, AI, image processing, information security. Her scholarly contributions extend to numerous publications in international journals and conferences within her areas of expertise. Dr. Amira has also served as a supervisor for several master's and Ph.D. students, and she currently holds the position of Head of the Department of Information Technology (IT). With over 19 years of teaching experience in various universities and technical institutes in Iraq, Dr. Amira combines academic excellence with a wealth of practical knowledge in her field.
Hayfaa Subhi Malallah, is an Assistant Lecturer in the IT Department at Duhok Polytechnic University, where she is committed to empowering students through education and practical training. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology Management from Duhok Polytechnic University, followed by a Master’s in the same field. This strong educational foundation has equipped her with the knowledge and skills to foster the next generation of IT professionals.
In addition to her teaching role, she serves as the Registration Manager at the Technical College of Duhok. This experience has enhanced her managerial abilities and provided her with valuable insights into the operational aspects of educational institutions.
She is particularly passionate about training and development. As one of the co-founders of the Entrepreneurship Center at DPU, she focuses on creating dynamic training programs that equip students with the skills necessary to thrive in today’s competitive landscape. Through workshops and Training of Trainers (TOT) lectures, she aims to inspire students to turn their entrepreneurial ideas into successful ventures.
She believes that hands-on training and mentorship are crucial for personal and professional growth. By combining academic knowledge with practical experiences, she strives to make a meaningful impact on my students and the broader community.
