About the Department

The Medical Laboratory Technology Department (MLT), established in 2000-2001, is an integral part of Duhok Technical Institute. The department is known for providing excellent and realistic education, offering both traditional courses and practical, hands-on experience in actual clinical laboratories. The department's curriculum combines lectures and lab work, providing students with a solid knowledge base and essential skills in medical laboratory technology.

The duration of study at the Institute is two years, including summer training. Upon completion, students are awarded a technical diploma in the field of Medical Laboratory Technology, qualifying them as technical assistants in various healthcare settings.

The graduates of the Medical Laboratory Technology Department play a vital role in delivering quality healthcare. They are trained to communicate and interact effectively with patients, physicians, and other health professionals, aligning their work with employer standards and ensuring the effective diagnosis and treatment of diseases.

Mission

The primary mission of the Medical Laboratory Technology Department is to provide a learning environment where faculty, staff, and students can engage in the discovery, critical examination, preservation, and transmission of knowledge. This will help ensure the survival of future generations and improve the quality of life for the people of Kurdistan.

The department aims to educate students in medical science principles, developing them into outstanding lab technicians with the necessary skills, knowledge, and passion to improve the public health of Kurdistan. This is achieved through a combination of in-class education, practical training, and clerkship within medical and hospital laboratories.
