Workshop on "How to Write Scientific Research" Held

Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Ari Adel, President of Duhok Polytechnic University, and supervised by the General Directorate of the Scientific Research Center – Directorate of Capacity Building and Laboratories, a workshop titled "How to Write Scientific Research" was held today, Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at the University Presidency.

Before the workshop commenced, the University President welcomed Professor Dr. Nizar Shabila, President of the Catholic University in Erbil, and thanked him for providing the opportunity to participate as a keynote speaker at the Duhok Polytechnic University Presidency.

In turn, Prof. Dr. Nizar expressed his gratitude to the University President, Assist. Prof. Dr. Diyar Ahmed Saeb Sadiq (Director General of the Scientific Research Center), and Prof. Dr. Masoud Abdulkarim Abdulrahman (Director of Development and Capacities) for organizing this important scientific activity.

Following the opening, the workshop commenced, covering and explaining the following topics to over 65 lecturers and researchers from Duhok Polytechnic University:

• Structure of a scientific paper and its framework
• How to write an impactful introduction
• Writing the body of the research, methodology, and results
• Writing a strong discussion and identifying limitations
• Writing conclusions and recommendations
• Reference management software, titles, and abstracts
• Improving the manuscript through writing guidelines, tables, figures, and scientific phrasing

The General Directorate of the Scientific Research Center – Directorate of Capacity Building and Laboratories at Duhok Polytechnic University is expected to organize several other scientific and academic activities in the coming days as part of its action plan for the 2026–2027 academic year.
