Continues Academic Development (CAD)

In order to develop and implement the process of continuous academic development in the universities and institutes of Kurdistan, the academic staff activities start from the month of September till the end of the academic year in Month June annually. The program is working at the level of scientific departments and will be supervised by the QA directorate through the QA unites in each College and Institution.

All scientific departments of the universities and its academic staff should develop a periodical program of scientific and academic activities. At the beginning of the academic semester or year, the list of the teaching staff and their activities including seminars delivery of each department should be published with their titles at the department level, with the possibility of publishing them for information on the bulletin board. Or, In order to encourage exchange of visits, joint seminars among academics of various universities and the schedule of seminars should be published among the corresponding departments of universities and bodies.

The points that the teaching staff has to collect is either active or inactive. The active ones are those done by each teacher and are mainly concerned with: (presenting of seminars, participation in presenting a local, regional and international workshops or seminars, or even through webinar, a training course, research publication inside or outside the country, patent if any, books (academic or scientific), translations of the books, postgraduate students supervision, evaluation of other researches as reviewer, …etc. While the inactive ones are those with only participation as an attendee or attending the above mentioned activities. Moreover, by presenting the active and inactive activities, the teaching staff have to collect certain points during this process based on their academic titles i.e. Prof title has its own points, the Assist Prof., the Lecturer, and the Assist Lecturer, also those who are with two or one year diploma.

The best and most effective method of academic development is to participate actively, through research, analysis and exploration of science, and to present the results of such research and analysis in scientific seminars organized by the departments and colleges. Each such seminar shall be counted by two hours for the research professor. At least, 20 hours a year in the academic development process through active participation in different listed activities within CAD. There is no doubt that the important role of the academicians is to participate in the seminars and develop strategic plans and provide valuable scientific advice to different institutions, and these activities can be counted one hour per participant if evidence is provided to prove performance.
