Technical institute of Amedi Hosts workshop and Panel on climate change


The Technical Institute of Amedi organized a workshop and panel discussion on climate change, addressing its geological, environmental, agricultural, and economic dimensions, with a particular focus on the associated risks.

The event was held on Tuesday, 23 December 2025, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Ari Adel, President of Duhok Polytechnic University, and under the patronage of Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Fattah, Dean of the Technical Institute of Amedi. The activity was attended by a number of governmental and political officials, as well as faculty members and staff of the institute, in addition to a group of specialists and academics. The program consisted of two main parts.

In the first part, a workshop was delivered comprising two topics.

The first topic was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Yaman Sami, vice President for Scientific Affairs, who discussed the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and their implications.

The second topic focused on climate change and was presented by Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Fattah, Dean of the Technical Institute of Amedi, and Dr. Najib Saeed, a faculty member at the institute.

The second part featured a panel discussion on climate change from geological, environmental, agricultural, and economic perspectives, with an emphasis on climate-related risks. The panelists included Dr. Ramadan Hamza, university lecturer; Dr. Najmadin Nerway, university lecturer; Dr. Kawa Abdulaziz, Head of the Kurdistan Economists Syndicate – Duhok Branch; and Eng. Radhwan Mikhail.

The panel witnessed an in-depth and constructive discussion on climate change and its multifaceted impacts. At the conclusion of the event, the floor was opened for questions and audience interventions, which were duly addressed. The event concluded with the Dean of the Institute presenting certificates of appreciation to the panelists and participants in the workshop and panel discussion.
