Job description

The Bachelor of Science in Cyber Security Engineering program prepares students for highly technical jobs such as:

  • Cybersecurity Engineer: This role involves identifying and implementing cybersecurity measures, responding to threats and security breaches, developing security solutions to address vulnerabilities, coordinating incident response across the organization, automating security solutions, upgrading security solutions, developing threat models, researching new attack vectors, performing security assessments, and performing security code audits.
  • Security Incident Response (IR) Engineer: A security analyst monitors network traffic, hardens system security, and watches for signs of trouble. They are often involved in incident response and recovery, compliance and risk management, vendor management and procurement, and disaster recovery planning.
  • Network Security Engineer: This role involves designing secure network solutions, implementing and maintaining network security tools, and ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Information Security Engineer: They are responsible for creating solutions for pre-existing security issues, defining, implementing and enforcing corporate security policies and best practices, configuring and installing firewalls and intrusion detection systems (IDS), and promptly responding to data security crises.
  • Digital Forensics Analyst: is a professional who specializes in the collection, preservation, and analysis of digital evidence to support legal proceedings and investigations. They possess technical expertise in computer systems, networks, and cybersecurity. Their role involves collecting electronic evidence from various sources, ensuring its integrity, and playing a vital role in incident response by analyzing data to identify and document evidence related to cyber incidents.
  • Industrial/operational technology (OT) security engineer: Focusing on critical infrastructure, such as energy grids, water treatment plants, and manufacturing facilities, these engineers OT systems that are increasingly connected to digital networks. Their work helps prevent potentially catastrophic disruptions.

Moreover, the student will possess the technical expertise to work in the following fields:

  • Computer Networking and IT support
  • Cloud Computing and Database administration
  • Embedded Systems and Internet of Things
  • Communication Systems
  • Data Sciences and Machine Learning
