Teacher’s Portfolio

Teacher’s Portfolio (TP)

The Teacher’s Portfolio is best known as a comprehensive summary or documented statement of an academic staff member's professional journey. It typically includes a sample CV, delineation of responsibilities and rights, activities undertaken, objectives pursued, and accomplishments attained throughout the academic year. Acting as a showcase, it offers a platform to highlight a wide array of teaching and leadership skills tailored to the teacher's specialization and interests.

A robust teaching portfolio often incorporates visual aids such as photographs, detailed lesson plans, letters of reference, scholarly research, and publications. Various examples can be showcased to demonstrate a teacher's excellence. These examples may encompass student work samples, certificates of achievement, or appreciative notes received.

The teacher portfolio encompasses a diverse range of materials that spotlight an individual teacher's most notable achievements. Due to their inherent diversity, collating them under a single category can be challenging. Nevertheless, the portfolio is considered an indispensable component of academic staff achievements and assessments.

To streamline the assessment process, academic staff members are required to compile a specialized portfolio comprising essential documents, scripts, records, and papers. This portfolio is then presented to an evaluation committee, typically comprised of the dean of the college or institution, the department head, and the Quality Assurance (QA) coordinator. The committee meticulously reviews the portfolio, completes a specialized evaluation form, and assigns a corresponding score.
